  •  IEEE AIUB joins celebration of 125 YEARS OF IEEE IN BANGLADESH - [2010-01-03]
    On 25th December 2009, Bangladesh Section of IEEE had organized a rally to celebrate the 125 years of IEEE. The Rally started at 9:00 a.m. T-shirts and Caps, with the IEEE logo, were distributed among all the members. Rally started in IEB. Then it proceeded thorough the route: IEB à Supreme Court à Doel Chattar à Shahid Minar à BUET Auditorium. The Chair of the Bangladesh Section, Prof. M. Aynal Haque spoke in front of the BUET Auditorium to welcome and thank all the members who have joined this glorious event. After the breakfast, Seminars on two topics were presented by the present members and then lunch was served ending the program at around 1:00 p.m. The rally was joined by other Student branches of different universities: BUET, RUET, AUST, BRAC and NSU. It is worth mentioning AIUB had one of the biggest crowds. The IEEE AIUB Student branch is proud to be part of this glorious event. [ Details ]

  •  AIUB IS ALL SET FOR INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION OF ITS MBA/EMBA PROGRAM - [2009-11-02]
    After about 2 years of preparations, the American International University-Bangladesh is now ready for the evaluation visit of the PAASCU ( Philippine Association of Accrediting Schools, Colleges and Universities) Team. The university has established its own internal cell called Quality Assurance Center (AQAC) to spearhead in the conduct of the institution self-survey as a pre-requisite for accreditation. After the application of the university was approved by the PAASCU Board, the self-survey of the university in 8 areas such as: Goals and Objectives, Faculty, Curriculum and Instruction, Students, Library, Research, Administration, and Other Resources were thoroughly analyzed using the PAASCU survey instruments and evaluation standards. Correspondingly, a steering committee and eight subcommittees were created with the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna on the helm and Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration as overall coordinator and Mr. Maksud Sarker as Director of AQAC. To better understand and appreciate the process, all the subcommittee members underwent series of orientations and trainings to familiarize themselves with the process, the instruments and the application of the standards or criteria. The output of the university self-survey, after each subcommittee has carefully analyzed the 8 areas and ably defended the results, was submitted to PAASCU for initial evaluation. The documents were found substantive and a team was constituted by PAASCU to visit the university for actual evaluation on 10-12 November 2009. Ms. Concepcion Pijano, PAASCU Executive Director and President of the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) an international organization based in Australia is the Team Leader with Dr. Linda Flor Gil and Dr. Cecile Gutierrez recognized registered accreditators as members.   •  AIUB patronizes the Fulbright Alumni Project - [2009-10-15]
    Fulbright Alumni Syeda Farzana Sultana and Qumrul Hasan Chowdhury of the Department of English, AIUB won the Fulbright Alumni Project Competition for the year 2009-10. Their project titled “Learner-centered Teaching and Networking Project” has started with the aim of proliferating learner centered methodology among the underprivileged secondary school level English teachers of Bangladesh. The project of the Fulbright Alumni includes a series of workshops at Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Tangail, follow-up observation classes in those five districts, a grand seminar in Dhaka and a project-end publication. The project has been funded by United States Department of State. American International University- Bangladesh (AIUB) is a proud partner of this project. This project is being implemented in collaboration with American Center, Dhaka and Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA). Dr. Carmen Zita Lamagna, the Vice Chancellor of AIUB, as the signing partner of the project received a check from Ms. Shaheen Khan, the Education Specialist at the American Center on behalf of the Alumni Project competition winners on October 8, 2009. The Alumna Syeda Farzana Sultana was present at the time of receiving cheque. The project aims at focusing on teachers’ motivation, maximum utilization of the available infrastructure and the theme of school administrations’ co-operations in building an environment where the classrooms would be learner-centered, teachers would be learner friendly and learners would be self autonomous.
